the sparrow

what a blessing this was.
It was only a matter of time before I painted a bird.
I am going to chronical the happenings from the past few days over here via facebook posts. My family and I have had the great pleasure of watching from start to finish a nest being built, eggs being layed and birds hatching, growing and flying...
last night

"There is something wrong with me!!! Why am I so soft and fragile?? Scott let me keep the sparrow nest on our porch and we have watched this whole thing happen from start to finish. Today was the day and I could feel it. I actually saw the ...babies leave the nest. One fell out and hit the ground hard and I frantically went to get my neighbor who put her back in. Like running down the street yelling Miss Tanya get out here and help me!!!  I am out of control emotional watching this whole thing happen. And there is one on the other side not able to fly yet but still sitting there. She reminds me of me...I got this! I can do this! Holy crap I cant. Its too high...okay im good. Lets go! Oh gonna die. This is happening. So now we have one who is hurt and one who isnt ready. Lord be near I dont know how much more of this I can handle!!!! "  #tweet  #tweet

"There he is. He just fell out for the final time. Oh my heart. A freaking bird. My heart. Lucy started to pray. ..she folded her hands and said jesus heal that bird. Oh to be with Jesus...what a wonderful thing. "

"See that guy? He made it. He flew off into the sunset and is busy living his life. The nest is on the other side where one more bird is still laying in the nest. This guy in the nest fell out and lived... we put him back in. He saw his brother fall to his death and now wont leave. Pain and death and loss is all this guy has seen and has to look forward to. But he didn't see his brother on the ledge on the other side fly free and make it. So he is living his life scared and confused and sheltered in a nest because of what he sees... this is Christianity folks. God has a life of freedom and abundance and beauty if we just step out in faith. When you know God your eyes become new. The scales fall off just like with Saul and you begin to base your life not on what you see around you but who God IS and what his word promises. If you just have one touch of encounter of his love you will never be the same. You will never see the same. And you will jump out of your nest and fly free"

I'm still waiting...I'm still watching and praying for this guy.
In the meantime, I painted him so I could always remember the crazy intense revelation God gave me .

I am over the moon so excited to be sharing these with you! I cant believe it. Well, I can...God is so good. He really did make all this happen for me. The one thing that I have HATED this whole journey is the fact that not everyone could afford my art. I did the best I could the past two years to offer discounts, give away and make available pieces that were so loved, but giving away my original art at such a low cost didn't work for my business. I struggled inside my heart daily because I saw so many people wanted it and i didn't know how to reproduce it. But God was faithful to honor that desire in my heart and here they are.
I have decided to keep my original paintings in my shop boutique419 on etsy. I will be offering all prints/poster prints/gallery wrapped prints in my shop melissalyonsart on etsy. And here is what I will be offering!
12 x 12 Prints

These are 12 x 12 prints, printed on professional photo/art paper using a professional printing process with archival inks. They are printed by my publisher. That will be reflected by tiny writing down on the right hand corner all with a copyright statement.
These prints will come shipped in a flat mailer via USPS.
It does NOT have a border so keep that in mind when matting and framing. I highly suggest going to IKEA and using these amazing frames!
Or you could use any 12 x 12 frame from Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Pottery Barn etc... and frame them with no matt. Or buy any rectangular frame and make a custom mat in the store which costs around 16 bucks.

Poster Prints are cropped images of my original paintings to fit to a 16 x 20 size. They have a lustre finish to them and come rolled up in a tube. They are printed with a professional printing process using EPSON archival inks and FUJI film poster print paper.
They are gorgeous.
And fun!
I wanted to offer this option because my art is BIG. And I wanted to keep it BIG. I am not into tiny dainty things...except for my babies. I wanted to offer a size that was affordable and big enough to make a statement on a wall. The way that you could do that is by framing it in a 22 x 28 frame with a custom mat or a 24 x 36 frame also with a custom mat.
Or you could just frame it in a 16 x 20 frame and include it on a gallery wall or above a dresser etc...either way, it will look gorgeous!
This print will have a tiny border to assist with matting and framing so I suggest waiting until you receive the print to buy a mat and frame. I would take it into the shop with me so it could be measured properly. Only worry about this if you plan on making your own mat. If you are just going to throw it in a 16 x 20 frame, you could get it ahead of time!
what the heck is this???
I'm glad you asked.
Some of my paintings are not published with my publisher so I will not be offering them printed in the 12 x 12 format. However, I wanted to still offer that size so what I have done is offered it as a 16 x 20 poster print with an approximate image size of 12 x 12. It may be a little more or a little less but it is a square, and you may trim it yourself, mat and frame it. Or you may wish to keep it as is and frame with the type on it as to look like a vintage poster print.
 I actually dig it.

These turned out so beautiful, I could cry.
They are gallery wrapped canvas prints of my original paintings. Side by side, I cant even tell which is which, an original or a print. They have a sold backer board and they are ready to hang out of the box. The sides measure around 1 1/4 inches.
This type of canvas print will take about 2 weeks from order to arrive at your door. You will need to notify me within 24 hours of receipt if there was damage during shipping.

Most of my paintings I decided to use the entire image on the face of the canvas as not to lose my signature and some of the face of the painting. Because of this, I had to chose a border color. I did not want to go with black because my art is not very contemporary and I felt a complimentary color worked best. In each listing on etsy I have shown a photo of the side of the canvas so you can see the color I chose. A few of them have the image wrapped around the sides.

These are unbelievable and I am so excited to offer them!

Thank you so much for sticking around and going on this journey with me! I would like to offer you a coupon code for 20% off all prints in my shop for the month of June!
